Systems that Scale
This project focused on designing streamlined systems and story-driven visuals to support a growing nonprofit helping young people find purpose.
The Magnolia Project is a nonprofit on a mission to ensure that students in Northern California graduate high school with a strong sense of purpose, clear career goals, and a polished resume featuring real-world work experience. The best part is all of the Magnolia Project’s programs are embedded into the school day through partnerships with 7th-12th grade English teachers.
When the founder of the Magnolia Project initially reached out to me in late 2023, she was looking for help onboarding new staff members and building systems to help them work more efficiently.
As the sole expert on her startup’s evolving playbook, Gia was being spread far too thin. She needed to empower two new team members to take ownership over programmatic and administrative work so she could focus on fundraising.
Considering they were already using Notion to work together, I offered to design a custom Magnolia Project Operating System (OS) in Notion. The goal was to document the Magnolia Project’s mission, purpose, processes, and impact over time.
Our goal wasn’t just to be more organized—it was to create alignment between their mission and their methods. By reducing administrative friction and making daily work feel smoother and more intuitive, we freed up more capacity for what matters most: showing up for young people in meaningful, lasting ways.
In addition to the systems work, I have designed several visual one-pagers and infographics to help the organization tell its story more clearly—connecting program strategies to evidence-based practices and outcomes in youth development.
